Our Favourite Snacks To Take To The Beach

A beach is an exciting place to be! There's never a dull moment, whether it be the weather, food, or the company you keep. Apart from bringing a swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen, I’m sure you’ll agree with me that the snacks are somewhere at the top of the priority list! They keep you cool, refreshed, and full until dinner.

So, what snacks should you take to the beach?

Hydrating foods such as salads, fruits, and vegetables, especially greens, are the best snacks to take to the beach. They help your body fight the heat, keep you full and provide you with a boost of energy. Quick-Buy foods like jerky are packed with protein and don’t require refrigeration.

Although the preferable beach snacks benefit us in the heat, other options may have a more personal appeal. Let me show you some fantastic recipes you can make at home and some that you can purchase at the store!

Snacks To Take To The Beach

Beach snacks are usually best when they strike a balance between healthy and satisfactory. It can mean different things for each individual, and that is why salads are a great choice. With salads, you can mix and match ingredients that are preferable to your taste buds and have the added benefit of desired nutrients for the heat.

Great salad choices include Veggie Tuna Salad and Quinoa tabouli Salad. The veggies and tuna explode with flavour and texture, making for an exceptionally satisfying meal. Thanks to the quinoa base, Quinoa salad allows you to combine everything with olive oil, lemon juice, parsley, cucumbers, and tomatoes.

Frozen grapes are my favourite beach snack since they stay frozen for a long time and are tasty even after they thaw. They won't be a warm, mushy mess when you get around to eating them since they've been frozen from the start. Bring them to the beach in a lightly packed lunchbox for a delicious, refreshing, healthy beach snack.

Roasted chickpeas are as good as they are crunchy. They're loaded with fiber, zinc, folate, and protein, making for a great all-around choice. You can season them with any spices like curry, salt, or garlic powder – the option is yours!

Banana Roll-Ups are fulfilling for the whole family. Get one flour tortilla (burrito sized), two tablespoons of almond butter, and a single peeled banana. On one side of the tortilla, apply almond butter evenly. Place the banana down one of the tortilla's edges and roll it up. Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into small pieces and enjoy!

A refreshing tropical drink as a snack might help you beat the heat. Mix fresh bananas with coconut water, then add frozen pineapple, frozen mangoes, and fresh orange. The addition of coconut water is incredibly unique because it functions as a natural supply of electrolytes, making it ideal for a beach excursion. Enjoy!

Tasty Apple Chips For The Beach

The only ingredients in this recipe are apples and cinnamon and believe me; this is one of the most sumptuous snacks you can prepare for yourself. The Apple Chips are crunchy at first but soften as they are chewed. The ingredients are:

  • Two medium Gala apples

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 225 degrees Fahrenheit. Place Two wire-cooling racks inside two rimmed baking pans, or you can cover two baking sheets with parchment paper. Apples should be washed and dried on the outside. Slice each apple into 1/16-inch-thick rings using a mandolin or a very sharp kitchen knife.

Cut off the center of each slice with a small round pastry cutter or a knife, forming doughnut-like rings of apple. In a mixing dish, toss apple rings with cinnamon until evenly covered. Spread apples evenly on prepared baking pans, making sure none of them overlap.

Pre-heat the oven and bake for two hours, turning the apples halfway through. Allow cooling to room temperature before serving.

Mouth-Watering Trail Mix Bar For The Beach

It’s no secret that some of us have a sweet tooth, and it usually goes double for kids. They tend to be more active at the beach, always running, jumping, playing, and swimming, and so they require that little extra to keep them going. Here are some Trail Mix Bars, packed with protein and energy and combined with healthy honey and oats:

Ingredients for 12 bars:

  • Half cup of peanut butter

  • â…“ cup honey (115 g)

  • 1 cup rolled oats (100 g)

  • Half a cup of chopped almonds

  • Half cup peanuts

  • Half cup raisin

  • Half cup of your favorite chocolate candy

Honey and peanut butter should be combined in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 15 seconds. In a large mixing bowl, combine the oats, almonds, peanuts, and raisins and stir until well combined. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature before using. Mix in the chocolate candies until they are thoroughly mixed.

Pour the chilled mixture into a suitable baking dish lined with parchment paper. Using your fingers, press into the pan's edges. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Cut, serve and enjoy!

Sweet Granola Snacks To Enjoy At The Beach

Granola bars are popular snacks for the whole family, and fortunately, they can be made from scratch relatively easily! Feel free to add your own personalized ingredients, too, if you're feeling adventurous. Here are the ingredients that you’re going to need:

  • About 2.25 oz of suitable cereal of your choice

  • Add in 3.36 oz of uncooked oats

  • For the flavoring, one cup of almond butter should be perfect

  • Quarter maple syrup for sweetness (If you don’t have a sweet tooth, feel free to substitute it for something a little less sweet)

  • Next, add half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon

  • Finally, add a little kosher salt, about 1/4 of a teaspoon

Start by preparing an 8-inch square baking pan and lining the inside with parchment paper. Make use of a large bowl to mix the cereal and oats. Then, use a small saucepan to mix your syrup, cinnamon, salt, and almond butter, finally heating it on medium. Constantly stir while it's cooking until it's smooth.

Pour the final mixture over the cereal and oats and mix gently until everything is blended evenly. Spread the mixture in the prepared pan, ensuring that you press it down firmly to create a compact, equal layer. Let it for about 30, and then you can divide it into 12 bars and enjoy!

Mini-Tomato, Bacon and Mayonnaise Beach Appetizers

These fantastic sandwiches are the perfect choice after a cool, refreshing swim in the ocean. They are packed with flavors, and a great idea for picnics, too. You'll need:

  • Four bacon slices (about three oz.), finely chopped

  • Half cup mayonnaise

  • Two teaspoons chopped fresh chives

  • half a teaspoon of lemon zest for some flavor

  • Half teaspoon kosher salt, divided

  • 15 skinny white bread slices (such as Pepperidge Farms), crusts removed

  • One large (8 oz.) red beefsteak heirloom tomato, cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices

  • Quarter teaspoon black pepper

  • One large (8 oz.) yellow heirloom tomato, cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices.

Cook chopped bacon, tossing periodically, until crisp, about 6 minutes in a small nonstick skillet over medium heat. Using paper towels, absorb any excess liquid. Combine the bacon, mayonnaise, chives, zest, and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a small bowl. On ten pieces of bread, spread the mayonnaise mixture.

Five mayonnaise-coated bread pieces are layered with red tomato slices; 1/8 teaspoon salt and pepper are sprinkled on top. Top with the remaining five mayonnaise-covered bread pieces, coated side up; top with yellow tomato slices and 1/8 teaspoon salt and pepper. Top it with the remaining five pieces of bread, and finally, slice, serve, and enjoy!

Fruit Skewers For The Beach

Skewers loaded with cool fruits like berries, grapes, and melon cubes are a breeze to make for beach days. Not only do they taste great, but they're also packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber to keep you full. Whether you enjoy strawberries, raspberries, grapes, or oranges, stick them on and be prepared for fruity goodness!

You may want to consider preparing them and freezing them the night before. It will ensure they stay fresh right up until you enjoy them. Much like a frozen bottle of water, they also have the added benefit of doubling as an icepack when wrapped in foil, keeping the cooler’s temperature lower.

Depending on when you plan to serve them, you refrain from freezing them. In that case, you need to protect the fruit from browning and losing its texture and consistency overnight, so you should cover them with a coating of citric acid. If you don’t have any, citric acid can usually be purchased from most local stores.

How To Prepare A Delicious Mixed Berry Parfait For The Beach

If you enjoy the combination of fruit and yogurt, you’re going to love these! The Mixed Berry Parfait is the perfect beach snack to cool you down and satisfy your sweet tooth while watching your calory intake. It shouldn't take you longer than 8 minutes to make. You'll need:

  • Half cup yogurt of your choice

  • Half cup granola

  • One cup mixed berries

  • Honey is optional for added sweetness

  • An empty jar

Firstly, rinse your jar to ensure it’s clean and free of any unwanted matter. When you’re done, start by pouring yogurt into your jar first (you want your granola and fruit together for that lovely added crunch). Secondly, add your choice of mixed berries, and finally, add your granola on top of your berries.

When your jar has been filled, it’s time to refrigerate it for up to two days. If you don't like the idea of soggy granola, add it when you know you're going to be eating your parfait soon.

Conclusion

Beach snacks come in different flavors, textures, and levels of satisfaction. Be mindful of who is all to the beach so that you can prepare suitable snacks. In addition, don't forget your sunscreen and towels, and to soak up the sun. Have fun!
