25 Best Reclining Camping Chairs for 2022 (We’ve Done A Recliner Search)

This very hard-wearing chair would make a great addition to your camping gear if your adventures are a little more demanding. The Azuma chair is another that falls into the same price category as the previous two chairs and it is interesting to see how the different manufacturers include various features for this price. For example, the Azuma stands out because of how smoothly it reclines. With some chairs, the reclining feature can feel a little ‘clacky’ but this isn’t the case here and you can feel how well made the chair is. 

Additionally, with this chair, you have a superior choice of 10 colours so if you want to theme your campsite or show off your style, you have options. Looks aside, the Azuma is a mighty chair in terms of durability since it features an alloy steel frame and a robust textilene fabric.

Folding flat, this is a great option for people who are limited on storage space but it is worth keeping in mind that it does weigh quite a bit at 9.7kg. In comparison to its competitors, this is a bit of a disappointment. 

For you and your other half, a pair of zero gravity chairs like these make the perfect place to relax at the end of a long day exploring nature. While these are not quite as luxurious as the pair we looked at earlier, they have more than enough to offer the weekend camper and where comfort is concerned, they are second to none. 

With a soft and breathable fabric that feels great against the skin, you can relax in style. What’s more, the Superworth chairs feature an alloy steel frame that is supported with elasticated cords for that zero-gravity experience. This takes pressure off the spine and allows for full support. The armrests are curved to allow for a more natural position. 

In addition, these chairs are comparatively affordable yet still boast a 135kg weight limit, an adjustable headrest and a stable locking system. 

The MQC chair that we have just looked at has a standout feature and it isn’t alone in this. If reading is your gab, you will be familiar with how uncomfortable it can be when laying on your front. While you might be forgiven for thinking that these unique features and the strong frame that can hold up to 120kg would cost the earth, this is a surprisingly affordable chair!

For camping, portability is everything and the Outsunny outdoes its competition in terms of weight at just a little over 5kg. Furthermore, when they say it folds flat, it really does fold flat with a tri-folding design to minimise the need for lots of storage space. 

You will immediately notice that the Houmel lounger is markedly more expensive than many of the other contenders on this list. However, this price is considerably generous when you look at what you are getting. Compared to the Outsunny that we have just reviewed, the frame on the Houmel is far thicker and much more hard-wearing. For outdoor living, this is a must. 

Moreover, the Houmel has a far more impressive weight capacity than many standard recliners at 200kg. But with this, it manages to remain amazingly lightweight at just 3.5kg. If you want the best of both worlds in terms of weight, this is by far the superior option. 

We have noticed that with many other reclining camping chairs, you only get 3, perhaps 4 reclined positions whereas the Houmel boasts 5! They are smooth to move though and are complemented by a soft, breathable material for ultimate comfort. 

For two reclining chairs, you might think that the affordability of these means that the quality wasn’t up to much, but this would be a misconception. While they may not have the robust design of the Houmel, the Marko outdoor recliners benefit from an alloy steel frame that will stand up to the challenge of everyday use. 

The weight limit is slightly lacking at 100kg but it certainly isn’t the lowest we have seen. What’s more, being as stable as they are with rubber feet, they can be used on a variety of surfaces without slipping. 

The Marko outdoor reclining sun lounger is finished with a textilene fabric that is remarkably durable. This also comes with an adjustable head cushion, which is a regular feature in most recliners but not all are adjustable so that is a nice touch. 

Earlier, we looked at the Houmel which was a slightly higher-priced reclining chair with a generous weight limit. But what if we told you that the SCH came in slightly cheaper and has double the weight capacity? That’s right, this heavy duty chair can take up to 400kg demonstrating just how durable and stable it is. 

For saying it is this robust, it weighs in at just 8kg. While this is heavier than some others, including the Houmel, it is extraordinary considering how strong it is. The chair also benefits from a very secure locking system so you won’t have stability concerns. The comfort level of this chair is beyond anything else we have seen. Not only does it have a pillow and breathable material but its shape is designed to work with the contours of your body for a much more relaxed and natural posture. 

This zero-gravity chair is ideal for reducing muscle tension and taking pressure off the spine. If you have found that outdoor activities have taken a physical toll, this luxurious chair is the ideal way to relax at the end of the day. 

For a fraction of the cost of the SCH chair, the Kampa offers many of the same features such as a zero gravity design. However, you lose the benefit of a large weight capacity with this one managing up to 150kg. 

That said, the Kampa has the advantage of an alloy steel frame that is ideal for outdoor use. It won’t rust and will easily stand up to the elements even if it is left out overnight. But then, for a chair that isn’t considered to be heavy duty, it weighs an awful lot at more than 9kg. This won’t stop it from being portable but it will make things less simple. 

But you must also consider that this chair benefits from a wide seat at 67cm so if you like something a little roomier, this might be a good choice. 

VonHaus is a brand known for its quality and durability and the great thing about these chairs is that both of these things are obvious. They are fashioned from a strong alloy steel that is surprisingly lightweight. At just 9kg, the chairs are easily portable especially when you consider that they fold away. However, they will only hold up to 110kg so may not be suitable for larger adults. 

While our last pair of chairs were slightly less expensive than these, the VonHaus pair is certainly not bank breaking. You must also consider that you are getting a much more easy to use design since these are operated on a weight shift system which means they can be reclined more naturally.

VonHaus offers a 2 year warranty on the recliner, but we doubt you’ll need to use it. The chairs also boast a stylish design where some chairs can be rather garish. 

While they may be from the Basics range, these chairs are a far cry from the basic product you might expect. Costing considerably less than the VonHaus pair, these chairs boast a marginally higher weight capacity but this does come at the expense of being much heavier at over 11kg; that’s one of the heaviest chairs on our list. 

That being said, they are incredibly durable thanks to the alloy steel frame but also because of the weather resistant fabric. If you’re going to be leaving them outdoors, they’ll stand up to the Great British weather!

The Amazon Basics chair has a choice of 5 reclined positions which is pretty generous, all things considered. But they might let you down if you’re looking to put your feet up as they do not come with a foot rest. 

Most reclining outdoor chairs are made from metal, there used to be many more plastic options on the market, but you don’t see many of them. So, when we laid eyes on this plastic pair, we did get a little excited. Of course, plastic is not as strong as metal so they may not be as stable. But this material is much more suited to outdoors as it won’t rust and is fully waterproof. 

The chairs do not come with padding, which is a downgrade compared to the Samuel Alexander but there is the option to purchase this separately. But for camping, the plastic may be more than enough, especially on shorter trips. 

These chairs are easy to fold and lightweight enough to make them incredibly portable. They feature a choice of four reclining positions but are let down by the narrow seat width which is far smaller than other chairs we have seen at just 45cm.

If we were going to compare the Samuel Alexander chair to anything, it would be the VOUNOT. At a very similar price, these chairs have a lot of the same features. However, the VOUNOT stands out because of its convenience. If you want to spend an afternoon lazing in the sun then the phone and cup holders will mean you don’t need to move a muscle once you’re settled. 

Moreover, this chair benefits from a 120kg weight limit while remaining lightweight at just 6.7kg. It features a durable metal frame that is covered in a textilene fabric which is waterproof and quick drying. For days when the weather is unpredictable this is one of the better options. But when the sun comes back out, the breathable fabric will help keep you cool. 

As a slight upgrade from the previous chair and for a few more pounds, the Rattan padded recliner offers the ultimate in comfort and stability. It comes with a full body cushion that features a design that is easy on the eye. What’s more, the fabric is weather resistant so you don’t need to worry about things like UV damage. 

The chair is easy to assemble so it is relatively easy to transport and somewhere in the middle of the road in terms of weight. But it does benefit from being able to hold up to 110kg, which is more than some other recliners on this list.

The chair folds flat for storage but much like our last padded options, it pays to keep in mind that the cushioning will make the chair bulkier even when folded.
