In the first instance, GenX came after an enforced removal of PFAs back in 2010. It is marketed as being a much better option than PFOA and more sustainable. Problems with the liver, pancreas, blood and testicles were all noted, including cancer in these areas. 

Teflon or PTFE

Teflon is probably one of the most well-known non-stick materials in the world of cookware and many people use it without realising the potential risks. The correct name for this product is polytetrafluoroethylene and it was first developed back in the late 1930s. 

Now, we won’t deny that the non-stick properties of Teflon are second to none and up to a certain temperature, there isn’t an issue. However, once Teflon reaches 240ºc, it starts to deteriorate.
